Can a second controller join?
The official one-player listings do not offer a second local player or split-screen session. Controller support only describes the input device. Passing a controller between people is taking turns in one single-player save, not a built-in cooperative mode.
Future multiplayer plans
The October 2 development update discusses balance, workstations, zombie helpers and other improvements. It does not announce a multiplayer release date. Requests from players are not a confirmed feature roadmap, and an unverified mod is not an official supported mode.
